Our office can consider complaints to the Ombudsman about how Ahpra handled a Freedom of Information (FOI) request.
The role of Freedom of Information (FOI) requests
By law, everyone has the right to request access to information held by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra), its management committee and the National Boards.
People often make an FOI request to Ahpra if they would like to see what information was considered when a regulatory decision was made by Ahpra or a National Board.
FOI complaints to the Ombudsman
Our office can consider complaints to the Ombudsman about how Ahpra handled an FOI request.
Common complaints considered by the Ombudsman include:
failure to advise a person of their right to make an FOI request
unreasonable delays in communicating with applicants
lack of clarity or transparency about the FOI decision-making process.
